The Sprint Cup Series, or the 'Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch Show' as it has been known recently, heads west to Fontana, California and the Auto Club Speedway Sunday night for the Pepsi 500.
Edwards and Busch have owned the Cup Series in recent weeks, recording back-to-back one-two finishes at Michigan and Bristol. The week before Michigan Busch won at Watkins Glen, and Edwards owned Pocono the previous week. Altogether either Edwards or Busch have won seven of the last nine Sprint Cup races.
It shouldn't be surprising, then, that the two rivals are co-favorites at the Auto Club, both listed at +400 at $LINK-BETUS$. When NASCAR ran at the Auto Club earlier in the season in February Edwards took the checkered flag to record his first victory of the season.
Busch has also seen the checker flag wave at the Auto Club, having won the Pepsi 500 back in 2006.
Trailing Edwards and Busch on the $LINK-BETUS$ odds is Jimmie Johnson at +525. Johnson won last season's Pepsi 500, which was his second career victory at the Auto Club. He also won the Auto Club 500 back in 2002.
Other drivers who have recorded multiple wins during the Auto Club's short history include Jeff Gordon and Matt Kenseth. Gordon has won at the Auto Club three times in his career, including 2004, 1999, and the first Cup Series event held there in 1997.
Kenseth recorded back-to-back wins in the Auto Club 500 in 2006 and 2007. At $LINK-BETUS$'s NASCAR odds page, Gordon is a +1400 underdog this weekend, while Kenseth is listed at +800.
