Jimmie Johnson solidified his status as one of the best athletes on the planet when he took home his 4th straight Sprint Cup Championship in 2009.
He’s been working on solidifying his status as one of the best athletes ever in 2010. After a less than spectacular Daytona 500, Team JJ has been en fuego taking home both the Auto Club 500 trophy and the Shelby American trophy.
Will he add the Kobalt Tools 500 trophy to his 2010 mantle?
NASCAR: Kobal Tools 500
Where: Atlanta Motor Speedway, Atlanta, Georgia
When: March 7th at 1:00 pm EST
Best Single Digit Bet: Mark Martin +800
The odds in the NASCAR sportsbook are just too low on JJ again. Martin’s odds are double that of Johnson’s and he’s had 2 victories over the Atlanta Motor Speedway, has finished in the Top 10 in 2 straight races, and looks to be on the verge of taking home a trophy. Martin should be tough on Sunday.

Best +1000 to +2000 Bet: Kevin Harvick +1200
The odds on Harvick to win are nice considering the fact that he finished 2nd in both the Auto Club 500 and the Shelby American. Harvick’s average finish on the season is 3.7. He’s going to get to the finish line first eventually. I’m hoping to have a few bucks on him when he does. Kevin has a victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway. So, winning on Sunday wouldn’t be a surprise. He’s an overlay at 12 to 1.
Best Long Shot Bet: Dale Earnhardt Jr. +3000
Sure, I can be a Jr. hater sometimes. Hey, when your odds are continually in the single digits and you still don’t win, I begin to hate you. Now, when your odds rise to 30 to 1 and I see that you have a shot? Yep. I begin to love you again. Jr. has won at Atlanta Motor Speedway, averages an 11.8 finish, and has dropped off of everybody’s radar. His past history and odds make him an attractive long shot bet to win this Sunday.
Other Drivers to Consider:
Juan Pablo Montoya +1500 - - Juan Pablo had engine trouble in the Auto Club 500 and finished 37th after starting 2nd. In the Shelby American he finished 37th after starting 10th. So, he’ll probably start well in the Kobalt Tools 500. Will he finish as badly has he has been finishing? Your call.

Kasey Kahne +1800 - - Kahne has 2 victories at Atlanta Motor Speedway and is coming off a 9th place finish in the Shelby American. He could do very well on Sunday.
Kyle Busch +1000 - - Sure, Kyle hasn’t posted a Top 10 finish yet in 2010 but he’s been close with 3 straight Top 15 finishes. He has a victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway and is just too good of a driver to not win a race soon.
Kurt Busch +1200 - - The 2009 Kobalt Tools 500 winner is averaging a 21.3 finish on the season so far. He’ll need to step it up to contend on Sunday but could do it because he did it last year.
